An accredited interpreter is a trained bilingual professional who has studied and trained towards this qualification. An accredited interpreter is guided by a code of ethics, where they are trained to be impartial, respect the confidentiality of the person they are interpreting for and strive to convey the most accurate message possible.
The most common qualifications in interpreting are:
- Community Interpreting Courses levels 1-3
- An interpreting or translation degree
- A recognised degree in linguistics from a UK university
